Proiect Unight

Climate, Resilience, and Energy Transition

Climate change and the growing demand for energy represent interconnected global challenges that require integrated strategies for mitigation, adaptation, and decarbonization. Research is focusing on technological solutions and circular economy models to prepare society for the cultural and structural transformation ahead.

Global Health, Social Well-being, and Technology

Chronic diseases, new pandemics, and health inequalities are urgent global challenges that call for a broader vision of health – one that integrates human, animal, and environmental – within an ecosystem perspective. Research and innovation in healthcare are improving prevention, diagnosis, and access to care, while also promoting overall well-being.

Sustainable Cities and Urban Equity

By 2050, 68% of the world’s population will live in urban areas, increasing the demand for energy and infrastructure. Research is exploring strategies for sustainable and inclusive urban planning to improve the quality of life, address social dynamics, optimise resource use, and manage waste more effectively.

Natural Resources, Biodiversity, and Food Systems

Water, soil, and biodiversity are essential resources for life and food security, yet they are increasingly threatened by pollution, overexploitation, and climate change. Research is developing sustainable solutions for the management of water and agricultural resources, the protection of natural ecosystems, and the reduction of human impact on the environment.

Cultural Heritage, Digital and Social Innovation

Cultural heritage is a vital resource for society. Research in this field, combined with digital transition, is creating new opportunities for conservation, management, and public engagement – encouraging participatory and collaborative approaches to safeguarding and reimagining our shared heritage.

Factory of the Future

The industry of the future will not only be more automated but also smarter, more ethical, and more sustainable. Research is driving solutions that merge technological efficiency with safety, ensuring a responsible digital transition where automation and human value can coexist harmoniously.

New Frontiers of Research

Today’s challenges emerge from complex problems that require the convergence of multiple fields. Research combines the strengths of mathematics, natural and physical sciences, and emerging disciplines such as quantum physics, biotechnology, and neuroscience with the insights of the humanities and social sciences – opening new perspectives and pathways for discovery.
